Today our tutorial How to Install Official XXLE2 Android Gingerbread 2.3.6 Firmware Value Pack Update on Samsung Galaxy S Advance i9070. Galaxy S Advance was the successor of Galaxy S and it features with Dual core Cortex A9 processor, Mali 400MP GPU and 768 MB RAM. Galaxy S advance has pretty high specifications and can handle Android 4.0 ICS easily but Samsung seems to be too dedicated to Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Tab 2 and has not released an ICS update. They have just released a Value pack update Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread stock rom in June 2012 for different regions and other Nordic countries too. If users missed the update via over the air OTA or Kies then you can install this update manually by using ODIN flashing tool. The new firmware baseband version is dubbed as XXLE2 has many bug fixes and few small enhancements. On previous firmware have some issues with screen rotation, camera and Bluetooth functionality. There were also issues with WI-Fi and USB tethering, Samsung has tried to fix almost all reported bugs and added new performance and battery enhancements.Warning: Neither we or developers are not responsible if something happens to your device is bricked and not functioning properly. 1. Go ahead and backup all essential files, data and apps before proceeding ahead with the installation process. Also backup Images, Songs, Videos, Call Logs, Contacts, SMS, APN & MMS Settings and other doc files. 2. The battery must be charged minimum to 60% for successful completion of the process. All security suites must be disabled to avoid interruption in the installation.3. Lastly enable the USB Debugging in your Galaxy S by navigating yourself to ‘Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging’.
4. Download compatible USB drivers for your specific device from here.Assuming that, you have taken care of above mentioned points. So, let’s continue with the update of your Galaxy S Advance i9070.
Steps and Instruction to update Galaxy S Advance i9070 with Official XXLE2 Gingerbread 2.3.6 Firmware1. You are recommended to download the Official XXLE2 Gingerbread 2.3.6 Firmware Package zip file from here. File name I9070XXLE2_I9070OXXLD4_NEE.zip and size will be 497MB. 2. After downloading the firmware package you must extract it. After extracting it you will get I9070XXLE2_I9070OXXLD4_NEE.tar.md5 file extension.3. Download Odin flash tool from here to your Computer. Run the Odin3-v1.85.exe file to launch it on the PC.4. Now, turn off your Galaxy S Advance device. After that press and hold the Volume Down + Center buttons, while pressing these buttons combination and press the Power button to boot into the Download Mode. When, green robot will appears on your screen that means your device has successfully landed at Download Mode.5. Connect your device to the PC via USB Cable while Odin is open and wait until the ID:COM section turns yellow. The Yellow colour means the device has been connected successfully.
6. In Odin window, Click on PDA tab to select the file having a extension *.tar.md5 which you got after the extraction of firmware package in step 2. Once you have to select the required file i.e I9070XXLE2_I9070OXXLD4_NEE.tar.md57. Click on ‘Start’ button to start the firmware update. Within the few minutes the firmware will be applied to your Galaxy S Advance i9070 successfully. After that your Galaxy S will rebooted automatically. 8. Again switch off the device. Press and Hold both Volume Up + Center Home Buttons together and Power on the phone. Then it will enter into recovery mode. Here you need to select the ‘Wipe data/factory reset’ and ‘Wipe Cache partition’ to wipe all cache file from your Galaxy S Advance. Then, select ‘reboot system now’ to restart your Galaxy S Advance i9070.9. Now, check for the updated version of firmware which should be ‘XXLE2 2.3.6 Firmware’ now. You can do this by following another path ‘Applications > Settings > About Phone’.
