Twitter for Android updated with expandable tweets, push notifications

Twitter for Android just got a nice little update that takes advantage of Twitters ever expanding experiment with expandable tweets and more. In version 3.3, any tweet linking to a site that is currently partnered up with Twitter (including the likes of The Atlantic, Vimeo, and Kickstarter) can be expanded to reveal a preview or content such as videos originating at the link. It’s a great addition considering the limited screen real estate a mobile device provides, allowing you to make sure you really want to navigate away from the Twitter app by scoping out content at a glance.   To go along with expandable tweets, Twitter has also introduced push notifications for any user stream you choose. Simply head to a user profile and turn them on, and soon you will receive live updates pushed to your device. The feature more or less replaces the old process of having tweets sent via SMS. Also enhanced is search autocomplete, which should make it easier than ever to track down persons of interest.The new version of Twitter can be found in the Google Play Store now. Mexican Governmental Mediumwave List Updated

About a month ago, the Mexican government finally updated their official mediumwave station list, now dated June 30, 2011. Updates to this list do not come very often, perhaps every year or so. The previous list was dated December 31, 2009, 18 months ago. It's been a long time coming.

The list, in .PDF format, documents station location (city and state), owner, call sign, frequency, daytime and nighttime powers, and license expiration date or status. It is unfortunate that actual latitude and longitude coordinates of transmitter sites are not included. However, latitude and longitude can be extracted from the matching entry in the US FCC database if you look carefully and wade through the huge number of redundant and outdated Mexican records to find the right one. I am working on creating a combined list using my Radio Data MW program. That will allow the creation of a list in many forms, sorted at will by call sign, frequency, power, location, signal strength, etc.

To my knowledge, Mexico does not maintain an internet downloadable, official database in file form like the FCC or Industry Canada does. It would be nice if they did.

Mexican AM List Updated Once Again

Just a head's up. Mexico's Federal Telecommunications Commission "Cofetel" has published the official Mexican AM station list in .PDF form again. The list is dated May 31, 2012. This is starting to become a regular thing of late, as the last update was just two months ago. Kudos to them!

Get the list at the Cofetel site.

Don't be mislead by the 2008 date in the site link. After downloading the PDF, you can find the actual list date at the bottom of the document.

This list can be made into a nice spreadsheet form by converting the saved PDF document to an XCEL (.XLS) file. If you don't have the software to do that, a great, free online conversion site can be found at Zamzar on the web.
